Woodland Path Improvements – Working on behalf of Botley Parish Council

We were delighted to be carrying out improvement works to create a new woodland public path for Botley Parish Council. This project provides a safer and more enjoyable walking route away from the river, because of the river erosion of the banks and the existing path failing, while also enhancing the woodland setting for the community.

What the works involved:

  • Carefully clearing vegetation and selected trees along the new path line (subject to Tree Preservation Orders and Conservation Area checks).
  • Grading and preparing the ground with an excavator to form the base of the path.
  • Installing a 120m long path, 1.2m wide, using Hamer warren stone.
  • Creating a level stone-surfaced seating area in a woodland clearing for resting and enjoying the space.
  • Planting 10 ornamental fruit trees along the path to fill gaps in hedges and tree lines, adding seasonal colour and habitat for wildlife.

These works are designed not only to improve access but also to make the woodland more welcoming, sustainable, and enjoyable for local residents and visitors.
