Oak Reduction in Somerset

Shawyers - Oak reduction in Somerset

Last week our Dorset based arboriculture team carried out a crown reduction of up to 3m on a mature oak tree with several overextended limbs.

The tree was located in a residential area overhanging a car park and footpath with nearby properties.  By selectively reducing the crown by approximately 3 metres, we aimed to improve structural integrity by bringing the canopy back into balance, reduce wind resistance lowering the chance of storm damage maintain the tree’s natural shape while promoting healthy growth.

Our fully qualified team used our CMC S20 MEWP combined with professional climbing techniques to ensure a safe and controlled reduction.

The work involved selective pruning of overextended limbs while maintaining a natural, aesthetically pleasing shape.  Ensuring compliance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations for best practice. The oak now has a more compact, balanced crown, reducing hazards while preserving its beauty and ecological value. This proactive maintenance will help the tree thrive for years to come, benefiting both the environment and the local community.
